I am Georgios Fessakis, <\/strong>PhD, Professor at the Department of Pre-school Education and Educational Design<\/a> of the School of Humanities<\/a> of the University of the Aegean<\/a>. The theme of my professional position is “Computer Science and Mathematics Education and Digital Technology in Education and the Educational Design”<\/em>. I served the same department as elected Lecturer (2007-2012), as elected Assistant Professor (2012-2016), and as elected Associate Professor (2016-2020).<\/p>\n

This weblog is a tool for the presentation of the work (teaching, research, publications, etc.) produced in the context of this position. The blog serves also as communication medium with students, researchers, teachers, colleagues and anyone interested.<\/p>\n

My background studies include a BSc from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications<\/a> of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens<\/a>\u00a0(1994) and a two years long, full time, MSc from “Advanced Informatics Systems” (1996) postgraduate programm offered at the same department. I have also a Pedagogical Studies degree (1999) from ASPETE<\/a>\u00a0(tertiary vocational pedagogical school preparing technology teachers). Finally, I hold a PhD deegre on “Educational exploitation of computational modeling environments and especially of the Relational Database Management Systems<\/em>” (2003) from the Department of Pre-School Education and Educational Design of the University of the Aegean.<\/p>\n

As far as my main professional experience is concerned, I have worked as a scientific associate (Computer Scientist) at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens \/ Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (1994-1996) and at the Learning Technology and Educational Engineering Laboratory<\/a>\u00a0(Learning Technology Consultant and Developer) of the Department of Pre-School Education and Educational Design from 1999 until today. I have also served as, Secondary Education, Computer Science Teacher at Greek public Schools \u00a0in 1999-2007.<\/p>\n

My main research interests include designing, developing and evaluating ICT applications for education, ICT and Mathematics Education, Computational Thinking and Science Education, Learning Design for Modern Pedagogical Models (e-learning, m-learning), Games\/Story Based Learning, Intelligent Systems and Artificial Intelligence in Education, Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning\u00a0– CSCL, and Systemic Approach applications in Education.<\/p>\n
