During the last years, Learning Analytics research direction presents an impressively intensive growing, due to the various orientation’ needs that comes to cover, as well as its theoretical interest.

In LTEE laboratory, from 2000, we work on technology based Interaction Analysis (IA), supporting technology mediated learning activities participants selfregulation. Nowadays, it can be considered as one of the sub-directions of “Learning Analytics” field.

Thus, in our preferred Learning Analytics’ approach, the goal is to provide directly to the participants information (usually visualized one) based on the automated interaction analysis on their previous or current activity, so as to selfregulate their decisions, actions and behaviors, supporting them in a level of awareness, reflection and metacognition. In this case, the locus of control is on the human actors’ side (and not on a closed and obscure ‘system’ side).

More over the locus of control of the applied Learning Analytics’ outputs is reserved exclusively to the participants of a technology based activity. Typically, that means to the teachers, moderators and the students (in a wide variety of roles in the range of learning situations), or even the members of a working space, or of a scientific network, respecting their various roles.

Up to the present, LTEE lab contribution concerns mainly the following five areas:

  1. Foundations of the field
  2. IA Tools for teachers, moderating modeling activities (in stand alone and collaborative mode) with secondary education students.
  3. IA independent tool for blogs and forums (for all actors: teachers-moderators, students, etc)
  4. Awareness tool (SNA) usage in the frame of a web-based teachers’ community
  5. IA tools supporting the platform of scientific Network of Excellence (for all members)
