THE DIDACTICAL LINKING BETWEEN MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS DURING THE TRANSITION FROM PRIMARY SCHOOL TO HIGH SCHOOL: A SYSTEMIC APPROACH TO THE MANIFOLDNESS OF THE CONCEPT OF EQUALITY (2018-2020): Co-financed by Greece and the European Union (European Social Fund – ESF) through the Operational Programme “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning 2014-2020” (MIS 5004240).

SCHOOL GARDENERS” ONLINE COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE (2013-2016): Creation of the online Community of Practice “School Gardeners” initiated by the Environmental Education Center of Edessa-Giannitsa, Greece. Project manager the Administrator of the Environmental Education Center (S. Theodoridou). LTEE lab was responsible for the learning design of the OCoP, the teachers’ training, the development of the OCoP portal and the design of the community management and facilitation.

TECHNO-RECYCLING (2013-2014). Development of interactive methodology of the cultivation of creative thinking and the environmental awareness, the teaching and demystification of science through the construction of experimental instrument-devices using recyclable materials» (http://technorecycle.gr/) in the framework of the action ARCHEMIDES ΙΙΙ of ESPA national development program. Scientific Leader, Univ. of Athens, (Profs Zisos & Baldukas). LTEE lab was responsible for the design and coordination of the training program, the design of the project portal and the evaluation of the program learning dimensions.

Quality Model in Higher Education Community (2010-2014): Development and gradual application of an awareness and quality assurance model in a higher education institution, including all community members active involvement, consent and application model, technological tools and processes specification, regarding the multidimensional work of a University. Project “MODIP-University of the Aegean”, partially financed by the Operational Programme “Education and Lifelong Learning”, which was co-funded by European Union (European Social Fund) and National Resources. LTEE lab member was the Scientific Coordinator of the project.

International Summer Schools on Aegean (2010-2014): Design and coordination of International “Summer Schools”, intensive scientific educational programmes for young and senior researchers, regarding state of the art research activities. The design includes a richness of teaching and learning methods of each program, consisting of highly interactive activities (seminars, workshops, round tables, panels, hands-on activities, technology-based activities etc), as well as complementary processes for the assessment and evaluation of each program. Its design and coordination include also a variety of approaches aiming to assure the consent and the application of various quality standards in all aspects of “Summer Schools” organisation and implementation. Partially, financed by the Operational Programme “Education and Lifelong Learning”, which was co-funded by European Union (European Social Fund) and National Resources. LTEE lab member was the Scientific Coordinator of the project.

University Center for Education of Teachers’ Trainers on ICTs integration in Primary and Secondary School Education [PAKE] (2011-2012). Design, development and implementation of high level Education Programs of the integration of Information and Communication Technologies in school education. Program co-funded by European Union (European Social Fund) and National Resources [ESPA 2007-2013]. LTEE lab member was the Scientific Coordinator of the project.

BUILDING ROBOTS IN RHODES (2010). The project was granted by “Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and it was organized under the Municipality of Rhodes auspices. The project designed and implemented educational robotics training program delivered to 20 teachers and 60 students from schools of Rhodes using Lego mindstorms”. The training was designed using the studio learning approach. One of the trained groups took the first place in the Greek educational robotics contest of 12 June 2010 (http://wrohellas.gr) and represented Greece in the world robotics contest at Philippines. LTEE lab as the Project Leader.

EPINOISIS (2007-2008). “Teachers professional development and educational material production for people with mental retardation”. Program of 400 hours while teachers learnt how to use, design and develop digital games for learning. Project Leader: Prof. M. Meimaris, University of Athens.  LTEE lab was partner of the project, responsible for parts of the program design, as well as for the coordination of Teachers’ Training Center for Dodecanese.

KALEIDOSCOPE- Communication and Collaboration Infrastructure. (2006-2007) [Interactions analysis Task] in the frame of KALEIDOSCOPE NoE framework. No, 507838, IST Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL). Its general objective is to develop and implement Computer-based Interaction Analysis (IA) Tools supporting the members of the scientific network (in their various roles), on the level of awareness and metacognition. Task related deliverables are available at www.noe-kaleidoscope.org, LTEE lab member was scientific coordinator of the project.

The Digital world of pre-school education (2006-2008). INTERREG IIΙ, European Initiative. Interactions of pre-primary education teachers and children in Greece and Cyprus. The project aim was mainly to develop of a portal with learning activities to promote the interaction among teachers and children of the two countries while in the axis of physical interaction the project supported congresses organization and professional development actions. Leader: University of Crete (Prof. Kitsaras), LTEE lab was key partner of the project.

e-COMODE. (Collaborative Modelling Environment), (2005-2006), Call eTEN/2004/1, e-learning, IST, FP6. The project will define the business and target market of COMODE Service, dealing with ModellingSpace collaborative learning environment, Consortium Leader, Lydia Mondandon, ATOS Origin, Spain. LTEE lab was key partner of the project.

KALEIDOSCOPE-INTERACTIONS_ANALYSIS (2005): [Interactions analysis supporting participants in technology-based learning activities] JEIRP, is a Jointly Executed Integrated Research Project (JEIRP) in the KALEIDOSCOPE NoE framework. No, 507838, IST Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) KaleidoScope NoE focuses on the foundations of the design, the implementation and the evaluation of learning environments. LTEE lab member was Scientific Coordinator of the project.

KALEIDOSCOPE-ICALTS (2004): ICALTS (Interaction & Collaboration Analysis supporting Teachers and Students Self-Regulation) is a Jointly Executed Integrated Research Project (JEIRP) in the KALEIDOSCOPE NoE framework. No, 507838, IST Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) KaleidoScope NoE focuses on the foundations of the design, the implementation and the evaluation of learning environments. LTEE lab member was the Scientific Coordinator of the project.

KALEIDOSCOPE-MOSIL (2004): Mobile Support for Integrated Learning. It is a joint research project aiming at modelling scripts for collaborative learning, with focus on scripts based on mobile technologies. IST Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL), Project Coordinated by P. Dillenbourg, EPFL, Univ. of Lausanne. LTEE lab member was project partner.

inquiry learning SIG (2004-2008): Computer Supported Inquiry Learning in Science, Special Interest Group, IST Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL), Leader: Ton De Jong, University of Amsterdam. LTEE lab member was project partner and member of the SIG Core Committee.

RECOIL [2004-2006]: Resources for Collaborative Inquiry Learning, EDU-ELEARN, 2003-4729/001-001, Leader Wouter R. van Joolingen, University of Amsterdam. LTEE lab was Project Partner of RECOIL Consortium.

KME-Aegean (2003-2004): Teachers Learning Community, University of the Aegean. Distance Learning Program for Teachers Education in ICTs in Educational Practice, funded by University of the Aegean & LTEE laboratory, A teachers’ education program based mainly on Communication Technologies, and based on the idea of creation of a Learners Community. It involved about 25 Educators (mostly University Professors from whole Greece) and 60 trainees, from Aegean region [2003-2004]. Scientific Director: LTEE lab member.

E-QUALITY (EQUAL) (2002-2004): The project aims to develop innovative methods of vocational training and social –working integration of adults in the border of social exclusion. The area of working integration concerns information and communication technologies. Project Leader: NOSTOS, Partners: University of the Aegean, Economic University of Athens, ALTEC, UNISOFT, OMEGA Technology, Municipality of Chania, Municipality of Menidi, Attikis. LTEE lab was Project Partner.

SLIM-VRT (IST-2001): The objective of the project is the integrated maritime training, onboard and ashore, using interactive multimedia and virtual reality technology. Leader: University of the Aegean-Departement “Shipping, Trade and Transport, Partners: European Dynamics,  The Universidad Politechnica de Madrid, Development Center of Oinousses, BMT, LTEE lab was project partner.

MODELLINGSPACE (2001-2003): Information Society Technologies, IST-2000-25385, Education and Training, School of Tomorrow, Space of Ideas expression, modelling and collaboration for the development of imagination, reasoning and learning, Design, development and evaluation of the collaborative learning environment system and the accompanied material, appropriate for the educational system of four countries (Greece, France, Belgium, Portugal). LTEE lab was Project Leader.

Intercultural approach of MYTHS-MATHS in a technological environment (2000-2001): Interegg II. Development of common educational material (books and cd-roms) through the establishment of a Scientific Network in the region of East Mediterranean. Partners: Department of Mass Media and Communication, University of Athens, The Department of Education Lebanese American University, the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University-Egypt, School of Education Cyprus University. LTEE lab was Project Leader.

MODELSCREATOR extension (2000-2001): in the frame of the program PINELOPI, (EPEAEK, subprogram 1, Action B’). Design development and evaluation of a modelling environment addressed to college students, as well as the accompanied materials and the model of teachers’ education. The environment included intra-subject learning activities, as well as activities related to the subjects: mathematics, physics, biology, ecology, Chemistry. LTEE lab was Key-Project Partner, specialist for the learning environment design and learning activities design.

C3-Children in Choros and Chronos”, in the frame of the program I3-ESE (Intelligent Information Interfaces, Experimental School Environments), 1998-2000, European Program of research and development, concerning the development of a technological environment, helping children (4-8 years old) learn notions of space and time. The environment includes special software and uses VR techniques and GPS technology. Project leader, Computer Technology Institute, Prof. C. Kynigos, Greece. LTEE lab was Project Partner.

HERMES (2000-2002): funded by the Greek Secretariat for Research and Technology, was a human Network of Research and development in the field of advanced learning environments over the world wide web. Its aim was to promote the transfer of leading-edge technology concerning advanced learning environments into Hellenic Universities, Organizations and Private Sectors. The network was coordinated by Prof. G. Vouros (School of Sciences), Univ. of the Aegean. LTEE lab was project partner.

Usability Human Network Network of Excellence (2000-2002): funded by GSRT, Greece, Network purpose was the collaboration among research laboratories contributing to the development and usage of methods and tools of software usability assessment. Network chair, Prof. Avouris, Univ of Patras. LTEE lab was project partner.

DOLPHIN (1998-2001): Distance and Open Learning Programmes on Hellenic Interactive Networks”, university of the Aegean. A pilot program education by distance using the Internet. LTEE lab was Project Partner, responsible of the teams of design and development of educational approaches, material, and strategies.

MODELSCREATOR (1997-1999): Project «Development of the technological learning environment MODELSCREATOR» in the frame of the program SEIRINES (EPEAEK, subprogram 1, Action B’). Design, development and evaluation of a prototype of a modelling environment addressed to college students [Seirines Phase 1: 1997, Seirines Phase 2: 1998 – 1999]. LTEE lab was Key-Project Partner, responsible for the design of the learning environment.
